WHAT IS A MESHBOTTLE, AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER REUSABLE BEVERAGE BOTTLES?

Many beverage bottles use carbon-based plastics (Polypropylene, PET) or metals (aluminum, stainless steel) for some or all of their components. Even reusable glass bottles often use plastics for their caps, lids, straws etc. The Meshbottle is a completely plastic-free, non-metallic beverage bottle that stores beverages in a 99.9% glass environment. A small portion of a food grade silicone gasket accounts for the remaining 0.1%.

HOW MUCH LIQUID CAN THE MESHBOTTLE HOLD?

The Meshbottle currently comes in two different sizes/capacities:

16 oz / 473 mL / 1 pint

32 oz / 946 mL / 2 pints

WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE MESHBOTTLE?

  • When equipped with the Straw Top:

    16 oz Capacity: 2.75" / 70 mm (W) x 2.75" / 70 mm (L) x 9.00” / 229 mm (H)

    32 oz Capacity: 3.45" / 88 mm (W) x 3.45" / 88 mm (L) x 10.50” / 267 mm (H)

  • When equipped with the Glass Top:

    16 oz Capacity: 2.75" / 70 mm (W) x 2.75" / 70 mm (L) x 7.95" / 202 mm (H)

    32 oz Capacity: 3.45” / 88 mm (W) x 3.45” / 88 mm (L) x 9.25” / 235 mm (H)

  • When equipped with the Silicone Top:

    16 oz Capacity: 2.75" / 70 mm (W) x 2.75" / 70 mm (L) x 7.67" / 195 mm (H)

    32 oz Capacity: 3.45” / 88 mm (W) x 3.45” / 88 mm (L) x 9.13” / 232 mm (H)

WILL IT FIT IN MY CUP HOLDER?

Due to its square shape the Meshbottle will fit in cup holders with diameters equal or larger than the below measurements:

16 oz Capacity: 3.3" / 84 mm

32 oz Capacity: 4.9” / 125 mm

IS THE MESHBOTTLE DOUBLE-WALLED?

No, the Meshbottle is not a thermos and therefore it is not double-walled.

HOW DOES IT STACK UP AGAINST STAINLESS STEEL BOTTLES?

We are of the opinion that anything is better than plastic, and in that respect, stainless steel bottles are definitely a step up. Glass, however, has a number of distinct advantages. For instance, it's less porous, and therefore easier to clean and less likely to retain odors. It's also completely see-through, and makes considerably less noise. Yes, glass is fragile, but this is why your Meshbottle comes with a stylish protective mesh sleeve. Also consider that herbal teas, vegetable juices, and smoothies may reportedly react with metals and may lose some of their beneficial properties if stored in a stainless steel or aluminum bottle for extended periods of time.

HOW will YOU SHIP THE BOTTLES? WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Our goal is to use as little plastic as possible during the shipping process. Your order will arrive in a cardboard shipping box made from recycled paper. Instead of plastic fillers, we use recycled paper to pad the box and to prevent shifting during transit. If you ordered a part or component we will wrap it in corrugated/recycled paper for protection and sustainability, and will either ship it in a cardboard box or recycled paper mailer, depending on size.

You may want to keep the shipping box during your return period. Although we are perfectly confident that you will love your Meshbottle, you might be able to reuse the box in case you would like us to process a return.

WHAT CAN I STORE IN MY MESHBOTTLE?

The Meshbottle can safely store any consumable liquid, whether it be water, juice, milk, or any of your favorite beverages. Please note, however, that the Meshbottle is not suitable for carbonated beverages.

WHAT ABOUT HOT AND COLD DRINKS?

Meshbottles are made from high quality soda lime glass, which is the same type of glass that wine bottles are made from. To maintain your bottle's integrity, avoid exposing it to extreme temperature changes as sudden thermal shock may crack the glass. Avoid freezing your bottle, especially with liquid inside, and do not pour boiling hot water in it. Fridge-cold refreshments and hot tea are perfectly fine to store in your Meshbottle.

WHERE ARE THE PARTS MADE?

The glass bottle is made in the United States, all other parts are made in China from high quality materials.

IS THE MESHBOTTLE MICROWAVE SAFE?

Although the Meshbottle is made from materials (glass and silicone) that are perfectly microwave safe, we do not recommend using your bottle in a microwave. We strongly advise against using a microwave to heat up liquid in a Meshbottle, especially when the cap is on.

WHY IS SILICONE BETTER THAN PLASTIC?

While plastics are made from various carbon-based polymers, silicone derives from silica, which is basically sand, one of the most abundant and natural materials on Earth. The most significant difference, however, is that silicone is highly temperature resistant. While plastics may degrade over time, especially if they are repeatedly exposed to heat and/or UV light (sun damage), silicone can easily withstand high temperatures and the sun's damaging rays. Think about the hot beverages that you sometimes put in your water bottle, or every time you leave it in the car on a hot summer day. Silicone is also water repellent, which makes it mold and mildew resistant. For a great introduction into silicones, you might want to check out Dow Corning's site called Fascinating Silicone.

IS THE MESHBOTTLE DISHWASHER SAFE?

Yes, all components of the Meshbottle were made from either silicone or glass, therefore it is perfectly safe to use in the dishwasher. Meshbottles can be disassembled in seconds for cleaning. For a quick rinse, we recommend turning the caps inside out to access otherwise hard-to-reach areas. However, when using a dishwasher, make sure that the caps are in their original position; leaving the caps turned inside-out for extended periods of time may permanently deform them.
